Common Mistakes I See Being Made in Home Design

When it comes to designing a dining space, the selection of the right size and shape of the table and chairs is critical. Whether you are looking to create a breakfast nook, dining room, or outdoor eating area, Maison Blanc Design understands the importance of crafting a functional and elegant space that suits your needs. In this blog post, we will focus on some of our previous projects, highlighting dining areas at our Haven on the Hill and House in the Trees projects, and delving into how we approached the selection of tables and chairs for these spaces.

For Haven on the Hill's breakfast nook, our client desired a casual space for daily meals with their family of five, which included three children. In response, we opted for a circular table with no hard edges, offset from the built-in bench seating to allow for easy movement. The chairs and fabrics chosen for this space not only offer style, but practicality, as they are in a wipeable material, perfect for easy cleaning. Additionally, the chairs feature open frames and breathable backs, ensuring the dining area remains light and airy and doesn't detract from the views beyond. The resulting atmosphere for this project was a light, casual space that was perfect for family meals.

At House in the Trees, we sought to create a comfortable space for relaxed family dining. In the breakfast nook, we used an L-shaped banquette seating that combined indigo fabrics and patterns to infuse the space with playfulness while still maintaining a tailored feel. We paired this seating with a curved glass-top table that was not only easy to clean, but also added to the casual ambiance of the space. The chairs were carefully selected for their comfort and ease of use, adding to the coziness of the breakfast nook.

For the dining room at House in the Trees, we opted for a square table that allowed for easy conversation amongst guests. We selected large, comfortable armchairs with a canvas wrapped back detail that tied into the finishes used throughout the space. The chairs were chosen to provide comfort and style, while the square table allowed for equal seating arrangements.

At Maison Blanc Design, we understand that the selection of the right table and chair combinations can make all the difference in a dining space. It's crucial to get the table's size right in relation to the chair size and consider the chair style that complements the table. We take into account the specific needs of our clients, whether they require wipeable materials for family-friendly spaces or elegant and unique dining furniture setups for entertaining guests.

In conclusion, MBD is committed to crafting compelling table and chair combinations and layouts for dining spaces that are both casual and formal, for entertaining or family use.
