Perfecting the Rumpus Room

You’re probably wondering what a Rumpus Room is as it’s not a common room name heard. By definition it is a room usually in the basement of a home that is used for games, parties, and recreation. While there was not a Basement in our Haven On The Hills project, this Rumpus Room has certainly been the center for much family time - games and entertainment included!

From the start, this project was led with family in mind as the owners had three young kids. They needed somewhere where they could all come together daily. Somewhere that was tailored yet relaxed, and unique yet not too precious. These were all factors that needed to be considered as the design for this space unfolded. It was a given that we would need some great performance fabrics and a wool based rug so that spills would not need to be worried over. Another must was an oversized, extra comfy, sectional where all five family members could lounge. The key was in the palette though. The marriage of materials with a simple black, white and grey color story was what created this relaxed and inviting space.
