How to Cultivate a Layered Look

Have you ever wondered why a room feels complete while others seem to just be missing something? Perhaps the furniture is all in, but something just feels off?

The secret is in the layers! Sure you have a gorgeous new sofa, but layering in pillows and throws is what adds that cozy factor to it, or maybe you have a great coffee table, but it just feels a bit cold and bare without some added accessories, like coasters and some candles. I always love to first start with a key piece and build off of that. From here you can decide if you like things to feel symmetrical, offset, or making use of odd ratios (groupings of 3 or 5 items, etc.). Keep in mind you can incorporate in any collections or travel mementos with art to help cultivate your look. Integrating in various textures will also help add layers and a certain softness to a space.

These elements are what helps to cultivate a layered look that adds character and personality to your space. They are what create ambiance, speak to daily needs and use of your pieces, and ultimately allow your space to feel complete (and ready for enjoyment!).
